Mrs Devenyns\u2019 Year 7 Dance students have been learning a traditional folk dance from the Philippines called the Tinikling , which involves two people tapping and sliding bamboo poles that a dancer jumps in and out from in creative ways. Named after the long-legged bird called the tikling in the Philippines, the dancers\u2019 movements are thought to imitate the bird as it walks over the grass or dodges bamboo traps set by farmers on rice fields. While the dance is traditional and usually performed to rondallo music, our students performed this dance to \u201cWe will rock you\u201d by Queen and had an absolute ball.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
