Who is The Collective?
The Collective is a group of students that range from year 8 to year 12! No matter the gender, you are welcome. We have different teams that all join together to make the one brilliant robot. Our school, Southern River College, is based in the southern part of Western Australia. With the help from our teachers and students who have done this programme in the past. Younger students, who have never tried this before, easily adjusted to the new environment.
Why are we in this programme?
– Having an interest in robotics
– Something that we can participate in
– New experiences
– Learning new skills
– Extending our knowledge of certain subjects (Coding, building, etc.)
– Future careers
Meetings
The students who are in the programme need to attend after school and holiday meetings. We’ve had meetings that started on the 18th of January until and are still ongoing. The students understand that the programme will take up their time outside of school but they still continue to arrive at the certain times and contribute their skills for the robot.
The Teams
As we have different interests and skills we have decided to split up into different teams.
– Marketing/Admin
– Mechanical
– Electronics/Programming
This makes it a lot easier for people who aren’t comfortable with certain things, they can choose to do a specific job.
